Rise Africa,  modelled on Big Brother  show, was launched at the Bingu International Conferenceand will see contestants discussing solutions to a number of problems affecting Africa.

It will be broadcast on Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) television.

However, unlike Big Brother which is filmed in the house,  contestants  in Rise Africa will not necessarily be confined in a house, as  they will be performing some of the tasks in tourist attraction sites such as the lake and wildlife reserves.

About 20 contestants from different parts of the country; Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Blantyre and Zomba entered the reality show  and every contestant will amass K10,000 each week they stay in the house. They will receive the cash upon being evicted.

Susan Kamkosi Banda, Rise Africa co-founder said  contestants will be given different tasks addressing themes such as education, poverty, health, culture and entrepreneurship.

“The show will also bring experts in respective fields to judge and shed more light on the topic at hand. The public will then vote to save one,” she said.

During the launch, the live broadcast of the contestants being announced experienced a lot of technical faults, ranging from sound glitches and loss of live feed.
