One of the fast growing iron sheets manufacturing company Super Sakuwa Malata has donated MK3.5 million worth iron sheets and a K2.5 million cheque to Beautify Malawi (BEAM) Trust for the uplifting of the girl child education.
Speaking during the handover ceremony that took place at Kamuzu Palace, BEAM Trust Executive Member Mayamiko Mwinjiro said the donation has come at the right time when they are focussed into promoting girl child education.
BEAM founder the First Lady Madam Gertrude Hendrina Mutharika graced the occasion.
Mwinjiro said the iron sheets will be used for roofing of girls hostels in the country.
“The cash will be used in My Clean School My Pride competition in which many primary and secondary schools are taking part. All in all, this will benefit girls who have been struggling to continue with their education due to various reasons,” he said.
Taking his turn, Super Sakuwa Marketing Manager Enock Chithonje said the company decided to join BEAM Trust in uplifting the welfare of girls in school.
“We are happy to be associated with BEAM Trust and we couldn’t say no when they approached us taking into consideration of the nature of the project they are undertaking. The Trust is doing a tremendous work in improving the quality of education for girls, and that alone is a reason enough for any company to be part of the initiative,” he said.
Chikhonje said th donation is the genesis of a long partnership between the two entities.
BEAM is a Not-For-Prot Trust envisioning increased access to participatory and improved sanitation and sustainable community management of waste and sanitation facilities in Malawi.
Founded in 2014 Madam Mutharika, the Trust cherishes the desire for a cleaner and healthier Malawi.
